Freelance Designer

February 2023 - March 2023
Task: Design a portfolio website for the software engineer introdusing herself to the world.
Team: Designer (me), Front-end Engineer
Background
Being a freelance designer, I got a chance to collaborating with a vibrant software designer to prototype her portfolio landing page. My primary objective was to design landing page that showcased her skills and personality. We aimed to create a colorful and playful experience that would leave an impression.
Problem
The challenge lay in translating my clients' personality and skillset into a digital format that resonated with her target audience. We needed to find the perfect balance of her portfolio between creativity and information she wants to send to the webpage users.
My impact
Using my experience in design and illustration, I took charge of crafting the UI and illustrations for the project. Every element, from the layout to the color palette, was made to reflect her playful spirit. Working hand in hand with a software engineer, we brought my designs to life, ensuring every pixel was on its own place.

Design process

1. Understanding the client's vision:

We discussed the client's preferences, vision and illustrative elements.
Utilized mood boards and sketches.
Brainstormed ideas on how to align webpage with client's personality.
2. Exploring references and analysis:

Conducted research on design trends and competitor portfolios. Gathered inspiration from references provided by the client.
3. Creating and iterating prototypes:

Developed low-fidelity wireframes and prototypes using Figma software. Shared prototypes with the client for feedback and validation.

Research

Before diving into the design process, I conducted user research to understand the preferences and expectations of her target audience. I also analyzed competitors' portfolios to identify trends and opportunities for differentiation.
